Looking Back on 2024
The other day, I saw the news that "Kanji of This Year" in 2024 has been decided as "金". As you know, “Kanji of This Year” is an event held every year at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto, where 1 letter of kanji representing the social situation of the year is announced. Also, this event is hosted by The Japan Kanji Aptitude Test(漢検). Whenever this season comes around, there is something that always bothers me. If Kanken announces "Kanji of This Year", shouldn't Eiken also announce an "Alphabet of This Year"? I think it is unfair that only kanji gets the spotlight every year.
